Why CCA Archery?
CCA archery, like all CCA Athletics, seeks to incorporate all the areas of academic virtue into physical, spiritual, and mental acuity. What is learned in the classroom is incorporated into what the student does on the field. Students are encouraged and taught to think creatively and critically, utilizing classroom knowledge and training to perfect their athletics abilities. Moreover, our athletes are discipled to ensure that the honing of their physical skills is accompanied by the maturing of their spiritual character and love for God. Here are some reasons:
Strength and Focus: Students develop skills in focus and coordination, as well as physical strength as they learn to aim and fire the bow correctly.- Accuracy Counts: While actual equations are not involved, archery develops math skills on the intuitive level as students must gauge the arc of their shot as well as learn to compensate for distance and wind.
- Competition: Archery at CCA also seeks to foster a spirit of friendly competition between students as the instructor attempts to pair students of roughly equivalent skill levels. Students learn that the competitive aspects of athletics is never a grounds for ungodly pride, but an opportunity for spurring one another on to excellence.
- Safety First: The class will also develop responsibility and discipline as students must help keep the entire class safe by following safety regulations and maintaining firing line discipline. Due to the involvement of sharp objects at high velocity, there will be a no tolerance policy on any unsafe behavior as laid out at the beginning of the season.
